Jakarta Job Fair memberikan peluang masyarakat bekerja di luar negeri

City Opens Job Opportunities Both Domestically and Abroad

The Jakarta Government continues to commit to preparing a competitive workforce and expanding access to employment both domestically and abroad.

This aims to improve the quality and competitiveness

Various programs have been implemented to expand employment access for residents, ranging from competency-based training, job fairs, job placement, to entrepreneurship development.

Several concrete steps have been taken, including providing free job training at seven training centers spread across Jakarta, deploying Mobile Training Units (MTU) to the neighborhood level to facilitate the community to improve their skills, and organizing productivity training for workers and entrepreneurs.

Pramono Opens Jobfest, Commits to Expanding Employment Opportunities

"This aims to improve the quality and competitiveness of the local workforce comprehensively," said Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Agency (Nakertransgi) Head, Syaripudin, Friday (8/29).

He stated, access to job information is also being expanded through regularly held job fairs at the city and sub-district levels, with a target of 21 events in 2025. The Jakarta government is also developing the 'Karir Jakarta' digital portal to facilitate job seekers to access job vacancies quickly and conveniently.

On the other hand, improving the quality of human resources is a main concern. One way is through free foreign language training provided by the Nakertransgi Agency.

According to him, mastery of foreign languages is not only important to support residents interested in working abroad, but also crucial for those who want to compete domestically, especially in facing the presence of multinational companies and competition with foreign workers.

"Foreign language vocational training is provided free of charge to equip Jakarta residents with relevant skills for the current job market. With foreign language skills, they will have greater access to job opportunities, global networks, and increased knowledge that will strengthen their bargaining position," he explained.

He added, the Jakarta Government also offers alternative global employment opportunities for residents interested in becoming Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). This initiative is positioned as a legal, safe, and productive choice, not as a government shirking responsibility.

"The government is actually present to facilitate and protect, thus Jakarta residents working abroad are prepared and protected," he added.

He mentioned that the facilitation includes skills and foreign language training, cooperation with the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP3MI), and assistance through Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Companies (P3MI).

"By doing so, labor migration abroad is done professionally while also providing benefits, both for individuals and their regions of origin," he uttered.

Working abroad also provides strategic benefits, such as remittances, skill transfer, and business capital when returning to the homeland. This aligns with the national labor development strategy and global agendas such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"So, the policy direction of Jakarta Government is comprehensive, prioritizing local job creation, while also providing safe and highly competitive global opportunities for Jakarta residents," he closed.
